Installing a Cat Back Exhaust

Place your vehicle on 4 jack stands.

Spray the rubber exhaust hangers with WD40 or similar lubricant to help remove them.

Remove the 2 spring bolts holding the muffler to the mid/center pipe (12mm socket) and remove the rubber hangars.

Remove the rubber hangar holding the mid/center pipe up and let the end of the pipe rest on the floor.

Remove the 3 nuts holding the mid/center pipe to the catalytic converter (14mm socket)

Using a pick and a hammer chisel out the old metal gasket from the catalytic.

Gently tap the new steel gasket into place on the converter.

Place the mid/center pipe up to the converter and hand tighten the supplied lock washers and 14 mm nuts.

Evenly tighten all 3 nuts with your socket wrench.

Line up the new rear section of the exhaust with the old pipe to determine which end attaches to the pipe you just installed.

Bolt the rear pipe to the front pipe using the 3 supplied bolts/nuts/lock washers and new gasket and tighten with your 14mm socket wrench.

Install the old rubber hangar on the new pipe and the hangar on the car.

You may need to cut off the extra hangar on the pipe if it hits the cars floor.

Install all 3 rubber hangars onto the new muffler before you install it.

Bolt the muffler to the rear pipe the same as you did for the mid/center pipe to converter.

You may need to bend the heat shield shown away from the pipe.

Shake the entire exhaust back and forth to check for other possible points of contact with the bottom of the car.

Recheck all exhaust hangars to ensure that they are secure.

Start the car and check for exhaust leaks at all connections.

Lower your car off of the jack stands, shine it up and admire how cool it looks and sounds.

Get cleaned and go for a cruise and enjoy the non irritating tone of your new exhaust under load and cruise.
